Goal: Post office pickup & back on trail

Slept surprisingly pretty good - warm and dry!

Up at 5:30 AM before community center opens packed and waiting for breakfast burritos - delivered about 7:30 AM. Ate and off for a walk to the post office for another resupply box pickup.

Walked on side cut trail and road walk.
Pink polkadot box ready and full of food. 🩷
Organized resupply and continued road walk to get back on trail.

Area is beautiful with big trees and grass and mountains and more…

Didn’t get too far before a hazy drizzle started - not enough for a rain jacket yet…

Hiked through trees and crisscrossed over streams. Sun came out - stopped for a snack and a break.

Sky still looks scary - didn’t make it far before the rain started again, off and on drizzle and full rain and even some hail - brrr! You can see your breath 🌬️

Hiking up up up in the rain - can see the yellow grass fields from the other day and Warner Springs far off in the distance.

A pocket of sun found us so we stopped and ate lunch. Very cold - need to keep moving.

Hiked up and around and up and around some more. Jeep road and big chunky boulder mountain in the distance. Beautiful Green valley.

Getting cold(er) and tired - found a squishy spot in the midst of some manzanita bushes. Setup tents quick ate a fast (cold soaked) dinner.

Bathroom break before bed showed clouds coming in fast and low over surrounding mountains - mesmerizing to watch.

It’s VERY chilly - likely to be our coldest night so far on trail. Attempted some foot care (feet are not looking good) and bundled up for book and bed by 7 PM.

Finished my book: The Year of Magical Thinking - Joan Didion.
