Day 8

Goal: Warner Springs - beat the rain 🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️
ONE WEEK ON TRAIL 🤯 ____
Cloudy morning - big white fluffy clouds stuck on the mountains - covering the rims of the sky.
Hiked through shrub covered mountains. Seeing views of prairie fields in the distance.
Hit 100 miles on trail**
Oak trees lead to a water cache/tank. Happy frogs are chirping in the tank and around.
Road cross to “private property” and up into hills overlooking fields. Down into beautiful yellow and purple fields of grass for miles with rolling hills.
Clouds look beautiful and ominous - hope to beat the rain to Warner Springs.
Eagle rock is true to name - can see it from a distance and becomes more distinct the closer you hike. 🪨🦅
More fields turn to manzanita brush mazes turn to creeks surrounded by oak trees - so beautiful.
Made it to Warner Springs Community center:
Cold outdoor showers (for free)
Bucket laundry 🪣
Charging station
Food for sale and microwave and toaster to heat - for lunch I had two mini frozen pizzas, icecream bar, coconut water and sprite. Plantain chip for snack and Mountain house beef and tomato pasta, fruit bar, bubble water for dinner.
Still raining, very cold out! Hanging out at the community center with hikers all day.
The owner offered to make an exception and let us use the facility for the night - about 25 people opted to stay dry and are sleeping on the floor of the community center. Slumber party!!
