Goal: ~15 miles

Sunrise glow of colors coming up over layers of mountains and clusters of Joshua Trees.

Packed up and on the move, hiking into the sun. Rolling grassy hills spotted with Joshua Trees. Saw 3 bunnies hop and scurry away.

Last of the leftover pasta for breakfast 🤤

Hike up and over desert hills to come down and hike up and over the next hill/mountain.

The mountains are so BIG and vast and seem towering and endless surrounding us.

Boulders and Joshua Trees give way to pine trees and scrub brush.

Dirt roads are cut into the mountains and are visible from so far away - like scars left on the skin of the mountain.

A large group of ATV riders, kicking up dust, come speeding down the dirt roads (in the middle of nowhere) blaring music and flying flags - it’s a bit jarring.

We hike to another glorious hot water cache, left at the base of our next climb. We eat lunch in the shade of a pine tree with a couple of hikers from France. Afterwards we fill up on water, we or shirts and start the next mountain climb.

Up up up up up. From the top we can see the trail we hiked here on from the other mountain across the valley. Views for day - gorgeous 😍.

As we summit and reach the other side of the mountain, facing North, we can see the Sierra Nevada Mtns and even Mount Whitney looming!

Up a bit more and then down to an oak Grove for dinner and camping.

Finished my book: Breakfast at Tiffany’s, by Truman Capote
