On trail by 8 AM!

Beautiful pine forest and rolling trails crisscrossing a stream all morning.

Giant downed trees.

After a little climb there are drastic changes to the vegetation - all scrub bush and wide open - can see for miles in every direction.

Joshua Trees are popping up amidst other brush and plants. Trail continues to roll and some juniper trees can be seen.

Found shade for lunch and a break. Many New faces on trail today.

One side of trail you can see miles of desert and brown mountains in the other direction you can see the snow capped San Bernardino Mountains and green forest. So crazy!!

Wild flowers and cactus dot the trail. Road crossing and a bit of a climb to water tank/tap.

More climbing to find camping. Sage brush and rock slides on the way up to ~7600 feet.

Found/made a spot to camp - CRACKED one of my tent poles when setting up?!!? It still works but it’s worrisome - not even really sure how it happened - frustrating! (First night in ‘new/old’ bigger Big Agnes tent).

Ate dinner and hunkered down - it’s going to be a cold night!! 🥶

Woke up at 3AM to pee - first nighttime pee. 😶 So cold, but epic stars!
