My moth stayed all night tucked into my vestibule. Made sure he was set aside in a nearby log safely.

Very cold and still super windy - packed up as quick as possible. On trail before 6:30 AM.

Sunrise over Palm Springs - very hazy sky.

Heading up to the saddle today - still windy but less aggressive than the other day - thankfully as the terrain is a bit sketchy ahead.

Skirting the edge of the mountain range we go up. Many burned and downed trees - I lost count of how many we had to climb over today - we even had to crawl under one!

The views are so amazing - surreal! Mind bendingly beautiful 😍

Sheer white rocky faces, chunky boulders that make up an entire mountain. A point you think you are heading towards - disappears only to reappear after numerous switchbacks and twists and climbs.

Some rock slides to navigate and precarious edges and scrambles. Happy to not be alone on this section!

Nearing the saddle the terrain has changed from rocky to big beautiful pine trees and remnants of snow. Filtered fresh mountain spring water and continued on to the Devil’s slide - a side trail that will bring us down down down into Idyllwild.

Hitched a ride and met a cute puppy named Nevada. Dropped off bags and went to La Casita Mexican restaurant for early dinner 🤤

Walked back to the Airbnb and organized a few things (clothes, shoes, food, etc.) - will do a full inventory tomorrow.

Shower was amazing - dirty feet are much improved.

Airbnb (booked by Steven in advance of our arrival) is super cute and cozy. Little two bedroom cabin with wood paneling and retro decor. Big orange/red velvet couch.

Devon made rice crispy bars and we watched This is 40 snuggled up with sleeping bags on the couch.

Tomorrow will be a Near-O day (sadly not a zero) as we need to walk in and out of town… But happy to relax and let my feet heal up.
